"Fieldfares is a collaboration with Dan Russell and John Baxter. We formed the band in late September 2010 and promptly set about rehearsing a collection of acoustic tracks.

Over the following ten weeks we built a set list of over 20 songs, drawn from our own back catalogues. We had great fun re-arranging the songs, adding three-part harmonies to many of them.

Having showcased several of the re-worked numbers at the Nova Scotia in Bristol, we took a trip to MMV Studio in Box Hill, near Bath. Our mission was to record as many songs as possible - live - in one single day.

As the snow and ice gripped the outside world, we managed to capture a dozen tunes, ably assisted at the controls by Martin Jones. We recorded together, live, in the same room, warts and all. What you hear is what we played.

I mixed the best takes in the lead up to Christmas 2010. The album remained on the shelf for a year. In December 2011 it was set free."
