"I took a year off music in 2003 once I'd completed 'Upstream', inorder to recharge my creative batteries. It was agony!

By October I was back, sketching new ideas which found their way on to my newly-acquired laptop at the start of 2004.

I found myself greatly inspired by the mobile studio/laptop aspect. Most of the vocal melodies were written in a car, parked in a field in the middle of nowhere. Many of those initial vocal takes remain on the CD, mainly as backing vocals.

Musically, I tried to move on slightly, opting for a guitar-based, stripped-down feel - a trend that continued over the next few projects.

I ended up writing over 40 songs and ended up ditching quite a few at the last minute, never to see the light of day."
