"1998 had been a year of 'real jobs' and writing glum guitar tunes. I ended up in Portugal during the first part of 1999 and recorded hours of sound effects and short wave radio broadcasts on my MiniDisc Walkman.

I spent a memorable summer incorporating these sounds into sun-soaked, dance-based electronic tunes on my Atari, completely re-writing my own musical rule book in the process.

When I finished it I gave out copies to friends and companies and the response was really encouraging.

I managed to find time to re-work ITV's 'West Match' theme tune whilst making this album, which aired during the 1999-2000 footie season."
